Why we Invented Poo-ch Pouch

You know that moment on a walk when your dog finally “goes”, you pick it up, knot the bag
neatly, and then you are stuck. One hand has the lead and the other has a warm little parcel
swinging by your side. Then of course you bump into someone you know. You stand there chatting away with a full, smelly poo bag dangling between you. There’s nothing worse.
The walk that started it all
Our family walks in West Wales are usually lovely. Green lanes, sea breeze, sheep watching us from the hills. But we kept noticing the same problem - no bin in sight. Every stroll ended up with one of us stuck carrying the poo bag.
We tried tying bags to the lead, tucking them into pockets (urgh!) but nothing really worked.
One damp Sunday walk, with the wind in our faces, trying to hold a conversation with a friend we thought there has to be a better way than this!! This scenario was really the start of Poo-ch Pouch Limited.
What we wanted from our little pouch
At first we only wanted something for ourselves. A small pouch that would:
Hold a used bag securely
Hide it completely so you do not feel self-conscious
Clip quickly to a lead, belt or harness so your hands are free.
No faffing, no fiddly bits, no fancy tech. Just a simple, sturdy pouch you can trust when you are out and about with your pooch.
We sketched ideas at the kitchen table, surrounded by tea, biscuits and dog hair, then tried our early versions on our own dog around the village.
The first time I walked through town with the poo bag hidden from sight in my poo-ch pouch was a game changer. It sounds dramatic for something so small, but it changed the mood of the whole walk.
A little brighter and environmentally friendly
Once we had the basic design we started refining it.
If this pouch was going to come with us on every walk, it had to look cheerful. So, we picked
bright colours and playful patterns that would stand out on a grey Welsh morning. You might
notice we never really do dull!
We also kept coming back to the same thought. We are cleaning up after our pets because we care about our environment. So, the pouch itself should be kinder to the planet too. That is why the fabric is made from recycled plastic bottles. It is tough, light and washable and it gives something a second life. I like that.
Why we still get excited about it
What makes me happiest now is hearing people say their walks feel different. They feel more
relaxed and less awkward. You can wave at neighbours, stop for a chat, carry a coffee or hold a child’s hand without that little plastic bag giving away exactly what you are carrying.
It is a small thing but small things add up on a path you walk every single day.
If you would like to turn your daily stroll into a more pleasant experience with a practical and
stylish accessory then have a look at this stylish poo bag pouch.
